Alberta Allowable Costs
Gain a deeper understanding of Alberta Allowable Cost fundamentals through hands-on examples of cost calculations, including operating costs, capital costs and custom processing fees. The seminar will focus on understanding AB Allowable Costs, Facility Cost Centre (FCC) set-up, Allowable Cost (AC) form submission, gathering data, and best practices in coding invoices and fees to insure that all allowable costs are accurately captured. In addition, you will also gain an understanding of how these costs are reflected on your Monthly and Annual AB Crown Invoice.
Speakers:
Mark Getz, CPA, CMA.
Senior Reporting Accountant. Mark is currently responsible for Alberta and BC Crown Royalty reporting at Encana.
Mark has worked in the Oil and Gas Industry for 13 years starting with the Alberta Department of Energy (Compliance & Assurance) as an Allowable Costs Auditor conducting Custom Processing (AC5) and CPAF audits (2003-2005). In 2005 Mark joined Encana as a GCA Analyst, and moved into the Lead, Royalty and Business Tax role in 2011 where he focused on Alberta and BC Royalties, Gas Cost Allowance, PCOS and Property Tax before becoming a Senior Reporting Accountant in 2015. He completed his CMA designation in 2010 and has been teaching the CAPPA Allowable Costs seminar since 2011. Mark is married with two young children and enjoys travelling and spending time with his family.
Parm Virdee, CPA, CMA, Manager, Royalty and Business Taxes. Parm is currently responsible for the AB/BC Monthly Crown Invoice, the AB/BC/IOGC GCA filings, the BC PCOS filings, Freehold Mineral Tax, Compensatory Royalties and AB/BC Property Taxes, BC PST and GST at Encana.
Parm has worked in the Oil and Gas Industry for almost 20 years starting with the AB Department of Energy (GCA Lead on the helpdesk), then went on to Canadian Hunter Exploration Ltd for 3 years in the AB Crown Royalty and GCA team as a Senior Royalty Analyst. In 2000, he joined Talisman Energy, working in the AB/BC GCA group, eventually moving into a Business Operations Analyst role.
Parm joined Encana in 2003, becoming the Manager in 2006. Currently Parm is the Chairman of the CAPP Property Tax Committee, and a member of the CAPP Accounting Committee (as the CAPP representative I was awarded the 2010 Gold Award (Premier’s Award of Excellence). He completed his CMA designation in 1996. Parm has previously instructed the CAPPA certificate program and has been teaching the Allowable Cost seminar for 8 years. Parm is married with two children and enjoys playing hockey, football and soccer and participating in his children’s extra-curricular activities.

Cancellation policy:
Cancellations must be received by email to office@cappa.org in order to cancel event registration.
The following refund policy applies to this event:
Full refunds will be given if cancellation to CAPPA occurs prior to midnight on March 1, 2017
A 50% refund will be given if cancellation to CAPPA occurs prior to midnight on March 9, 2017
Refunds will not be given after February 9th.
A $20 administration fee is applies to full and partial refunds.
Registration, however, may be transferred to another attendee without an administration fee. Please notify CAPPA of the transfer to another attendee. The original registrant would be responsible to sort the payment out offline with the new attendee.
