CAPPA organizes regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Luncheons to keep its members and other professionals updated on best practices and trends in the industry.
On February 19, 2015, highly regarded Todd Hirsch, ATB Chief Economist and author spoke at the luncheon and provided an Economic Update.
In his address, Todd emphasized that despite a decelerating economy due to oil crisis, Canada in general and Alberta in particular have enormous potential to boost several industries, such as forestry, agriculture, transportation and exports. Todd extended an opinion of optimism on recovering oil prices by the end of the year. Participants enjoyed the session and appreciated the relevant and well-timed topic.
Next month’s CPD luncheon will address the topic of “Acquisitions & Divestitures” where Howard E. Johnson, a leading expert in M&A and shareholder value, will provide an overview of the acquisition and divestiture process. The presentation will also look at the current M&A environment for energy companies and common mistakes that buyers and sellers make. The event is scheduled for March 16, 2015. You can register online to participate.
