Presentation Description:

For any producer, it is critical to understand the complexity of Production Data flow.

Where, when, and how production data flows within an organization system’s is critical to ensure that proper reporting can occur correctly and on time.

Often within a producer this can be distilled into 2 questions:

  • Where/how does the data flow?
  • And second, how do we know the data is good?

This session attempts to first demonstrate the different sources of production data and the many ways on how that data moves from wells and facilities to the Production Accounting end user. An overall production data map will first be presented and then a few specific examples will be reviewed. Even a single well battery can have a complex path on how the various data elements make their way within an organization.

The presentation then walks through one of the common production methods, Well Testing and Prorations, in order to provide context into the steps needed to ensure valid data but also to demonstrate where issues can occur.

The session then shifts to discussing the overriding regulatory compliance environment that is in place to ensure the accuracy of production data. It reviews where various AER directives overlay on the production data path, specifically what are Directives 007, 017, and 060 and how they impact ensuring valid production data? The session closes with a quick overview of the final compliance check to ensure good data: Directive 076 EPAP.
